Police Investigate Death Threats Against Rebecca Black

Reuters reports that the Anaheim Police Department is investigating two threats against the 13-year-old, which were made in March after “Friday” became an internet sensation.

“In essence the threats were related to getting the music off the Internet or they were going to kill her,” said Anaheim Police spokesman Rick Martinez said.

“We can’t validate how serious they are, but we do take it seriously.”

According to Martinez, one of the threats was made by phone, the other by email. Both were made through Black’s production and management companies.

“We’re going to investigate and determine, number one, the source of the comments and then based on the investigation determine what intent was and where we go from here,” he said. “If we believe they were actually intended as threats we will work toward prosecution”

While the investigation takes place, he promised officers would be “keeping an extra eye out” for the middle schooler. Once the perpetrators are identified, they could face criminal charges, he added.

Now, I know “Friday” grates on the nerves, but death threats? Come on, people. She’s 13 for cripes sake!

And you have to give her credit – that insidious video has generated more than 200 million views, according to Visible Measures.

Incidentally, that’s more than her idol Justin Bieber’s “Pray” video AND Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way.”

Which you have to admit is impressive. Deeply, deeply disturbing…but impressive.

Amen to that! Rebecca Black's viral hit Friday has been canonized as an instrument to bring back teens' holy excitement when they go to church on Friday Sunday.

This video is quite clever and no disrespect to jesus but  "Sunday" will surely tickle the funny crap out of  your soul - Very Nice!

Behold, Friday "Unplugged." 

The cyber-bullied Youtube internet sensation has told Chris Lee of The Daily Beast, "I want to show people there’s more to me than they think." The 8th grader who has found her personality in her new song has explained  that "Friday" is about hanging-out with friends and having fun.

If Rebecca's syllabic phrasing irritates you, blame it on the pitch-correcting computer software they call Auto-Tune. Her mom Kelly, who paid the $2,000 package for the label to produce her daughter's song and "indie" music video,  has confessed that when she first heard Friday, " (it) doesn't make sense."  Mothers know best!

With over 24 million hits on Youtube, there's no denying that some jokes are meant to be taken seriously.

Granted, we dubbed "Friday," the single released by Rebecca Black last week that garnered millions of YouTube hits in mere days as the worst song in recorded history.

But this aspiring artist says that's nothing compared to the personal attacks she's received since the video made her into a celebrity.


"At times, it feels like I'm being cyberbullied," Black tells The Daily Beast, saying she was sent messages that read: "'I hope you cut yourself, and I hope you'll get an eating disorder so you'll look pretty.'"

The 13-year old adds "I don't think I'm the worst singer, but I don't think I'm the best" and then explains the origin of the track:

It was part a $2,000 package her mother paid to Ark Music Factory, a Los Angeles-based production company for teen hopefuls. She chose to release "Friday" because she could relate to its simple themes. 

Hoping to one day truly make it big, Rebecca has one dream in mind:

"I am in love with Justin Bieber. [A duet] would make my life!"

The 13-year-old rising pop star recently scored 12 million views for her YouTube video of her single “Friday.”

Miss Black’s attention hasn’t all been positive, though- the Gawker website dubbed “Friday” the “worst music video ever,” and Daniel Tosh declared “songwriting isn’t for everyone” on his hit Comedy Central gig “Tosh.0.”

Nevertheless, Rebecca’s song has spawned multiple cover versions and garnered more interest than the former “Two and a Half Men” stars’ video series “Sheen’s Korner.”
