Hollywood Garter Girls

Hollywood Garter Girls

Nothing shows off a set of well-toned legs like a some sassy garter belts. Check out these stars who fearlessly embrace the suggestive undergarments. (Photo By Getty Images)

Taylor Momsen
Gossip Girl actress Taylor Momsen is known for a signature look that makes liberal use of garter belts. While her fans think it's great, some parents have expressed concern that their teens will want to dress like the 17-year-old rockstar in the making.

 Kylie Minogue
One glove, a garter belt and a skirt slit all the way to the hip? This is tame for Kylie Minogue, who is accustomed to wearing some very unique costumes onstage.

Beyonce
Beyonce Knowles will do just about anything to heat up the stage. Known for her elaborate stage shows (and MANY costume changes), Beyonce doesn't mind breaking out the garters for a hot number.

Katy Perry
Katy Perry is no stranger to trying out some different ensembles... even it means freaking out Elmo. It comes as no surprise that the singer has tried gartered outfits several times.

Dita Von Teese
Garters are a burlesque staple, so it's no surprise that the queen of the burlesque renaissance, Dita Von Teese, shows off her garters occasionally. In this unique Jean Paul Gaultier ensemble, the garters (along with several other pieces of the garment) have been made to resemble bones.

Carmen Electra
When Carmen Electra shows up to do a gig with the Pussycat Dolls, she dresses the part. Carmen, who was part of the original PCD dance troupe before they started recording, showed off some loose garter straps that fit right in with the group's boudoir theme.

Beyonce Knowles gave a private performance for members of Libyan dictator Colonel Gaddafi’s family on New Year’s Eve 2009, but instead of keeping the cash for herself she gave it all away to Haiti after the devastating earthquake that ravaged the Caribbean nation.

Her publicist said: "All monies paid to Beyonce for her performance at a private party at Nikki Beach St. Barts on New Year's Eve 2009, including the commissions paid to her booking agency, were donated to the earthquake relief efforts for Haiti over a year ago.

"Once it became known that the third party promoter was linked to the Qaddafi family, the decision was made to put that payment to a good cause."

Colonel Gaddafi has been linked to terrorist activity and accused of running a brutal regime over his people for 40 years. He's been asked to step down by leaders of the western world following a violent revolt in the Middle Eastern country, but has refused, even denying there is unrest in the state.

Earlier this week, Nelly Furtado revealed she is to donate the $1 million she earned performing for Gaddafi’s family in 2007.

The singer tweeted: "In 2007, I received 1million$ from the Qaddafi clan to perform a 45 min. Show for guests at a hotel in Italy. I am going to donate the $."

Beyonce Knowles is looking forward to starting a family and insists she can be a good wife and mother while maintaining her successful career.

She said: “I have so much admiration for women who are mothers, who balance family and work. I see them and I have this word in my head -- respect. I also look to learn. I see these women and I think, ‘Yes, it can be balanced, it can all work out.’ I do believe that it’s possible to have it all – work, a career, babies… It’s all a question of being very organized. That’s what I’m getting my head around.”

Although she wants to have it all, Beyonce also likes the idea of being a stay-at-home wife to spend quality time with her husband after previously taking a brief career break and enjoying the experience.

She told Britain’s Cosmopolitan magazine: “I took a year off and I even did some cooking, although I didn’t really enjoy that. I’m not the greatest cook -- I can do things with oxtail, though. It was great just having the time to be a wife rather than this non-stop traveling career girl.”

Beyonce goes from pale to black for African mag shoot

Singer Beyonce, who recently was in the spotlight for sporting skin that was paler than usual, was photographed wearing black face make-up for an African inspired magazine shoot. Beyonce, 29, took inspiration from African culture and wore head wraps as well as tribal-style clothing and accessories for the shoot for French fashion magazine L’Officiel Paris’ 90th-anniversary issue.

L’Officiel has said in a statement that Beyonce was “paying homage to African queens” and as a “return to her African roots, as you can see on the picture, on which her face was voluntarily darkened”. “As for the artistic make-up, the inspiration came from several African rituals during which paint is used on the face,” the Daily Mail quoted the magazine as saying.

“We find the images beautiful and inspiring. The designs are all reflective of the African influence on fashion this season. Miss Knowles poses with royal allure. A queen, a goddess, Beyonce is a bombshell beauty with a divine voice,” it added.

Beyonce Knowles was virgin until marriage

Beyonce Knowles was virgin until marriageSinger Beyonce Knowles reveals she was a virgin until she met her husband Jay-Z.

"People would be surprised as to the lack of experiences I've had. When I was 12 or 13 I had my first boyfriend, and he was my boyfriend until I was 17. At that age, that was a long time. I've always been very loyal and a little more mature," femalefirst.co.uk quoted her as saying.

"Though I was too young for it to really be a boyfriend - we didn't live together, we didn't, you know...That was my only experience with a guy, and since then I've only had one other boyfriend in my life - Jay."

Beyonce who married Jay-Z in 2008 has revealed in the past that her friendships with women have stopped her from getting tied up in unhealthy relationships with men.

"I think I am a feminist in a way. It's not something I consciously decided I was going to be; perhaps it's because I grew up in a singing group with other women, and that was so helpful to me. It kept me out of so much trouble and out of bad relationships," she said.

Gwyneth Paltrow says Beyonce helped her prepare for CMAs

Gwyneth Paltrow says Beyonce helped her prepare for CMAsGwyneth Paltrow has credited superstar pals Beyonce and Faith Hill with helping her to shake off her nerves ahead of her singing debut at Wednesday night's Country Music Association Awards.

The Oscar-winner hit the stage with Vince Gill to belt out the theme tune to her new movie 'Country Strong', in which she plays Tim McGraw''s alcoholic wife, reports the Daily Express.

The performance, Paltrow''s first major live show as a singer, earned her a standing ovation at the Bridgestone Arena in the country music mecca of Nashville, Tennessee.

And the actress reveals she''s "lucky" to know superstars Beyonce and Hill "in real life" - because they were instrumental in teaching her how to overcome her fears.

"I kind of asked my girl singer friends (for advice). I asked Faith (Hill) a lot of questions - and Beyonce, actually, too," Paltrow told U.S. news programme Access Hollywood.

The actress also admitted she had "studied" the Halo hitmaker''s previous live shows to pick up tips on how to appear confident onstage.

Beyonce Knowles' birthday surprise

Jay-Z organised a surprise birthday bash for wife Beyonce Knowles at the weekend.

The rapper made the 'Halo' hitmaker's 29th birthday party on Saturday (04.09.10) one to remember by hiring out New York eatery The Darby, where the couple were joined by celebrity pals Kayne West, P Diddy, Serena Williams and Alicia Keys.

An insider told the New York Post newspaper: "Jay brought a six-layer cake out for Beyonce, they were really affectionate. Cassidy played Stevie Wonder's 'Happy Birthday'. The party went on until 6 am.

"Both Jay and Beyonce's moms were there, but there was no sign of her father or her sister. Diddy was the last to leave. Jay filled the room with orchids."

Earlier this week, it was claimed Lady Gaga had splashed out thousands of dollars on a custom-made diamond whip and matching underwear set as a birthday gift for the singer, which she presented to her backstage at Jay-Z's concert in Detroit last week.

A source explained: "Gaga wanted to give her something special. The whip was made out of hundreds of diamonds and leather. When Beyonce received it she squealed with excitement."

Islamic Groups Brand Beyonce's Tour 'insolent Sex Party'

Islamic Groups Brand Beyonce's Tour 'insolent Sex Party'Beyonce is facing another backlash from Islamic groups - conservative Muslims in Egypt fear her upcoming concert will threaten the country's "social peace and stability".

The Crazy In Love superstar is due to take her I Am... world tour to the mostly Muslim nation on Friday (06Nov09).

But strict Islamic groups have complained to the government for allowing the show to go ahead, branding it an "insolent sex party".

In a letter to authorities, a representative for opposition group Muslim Brotherhood writes, "Why are you encouraging this insolent sex party? You are accused of disturbing social peace and stability, encouraging viceand debauchery".

We should salute her instead of criticising her

The criticism mirrors similar outrage in Malaysia last month (Oct09), when Muslim leaders led protests against Beyonce's sexy on-stage antics.

The star subsequently scrapped her concert in the capital, Kuala Lumpur.

However, the Egyptian event organiser has dismissed the criticisms - insisting not all Muslims are offended by Beyonce's performances.

Ahmed Beltagi says, "We are Muslims too... this will not stop Egypt from hosting an award-winning, first class artist. We should salute her instead of criticising her".

Beyonce Poses Topless

Beyonce Knowles poses in a pair of jeans for House of Dereon brand clothing.

According to Anythinghollywood.com, Beyonce Knowles knows how to seduce her fans into purchasing her brand, House of Dereon jeans. It appears topless photos are “in” right now, because just a few weeks after Keira Knightley made her decision to pose topless for Interview Magazine (and a Chanel ad), Beyonce is doing the same. In her new racy ad, Beyonce is wearing a pair of tight jeans, and that’s all.

A source told News of the World, “Bey wanted to show just how seductive the label can be.” She did a good job. The jeans are quite tight, and have a “squiggly,” which is supposed to be a Fleur-de-Lis (a symbol of the French monarchy), on the back pockets.

Beyonce may not have a single $100 million deal, but her list of endorsements in 2007 alone is enormous: American Express, her Samsung B'Phone, her Armani Diamonds perfume, her appearance in Disneyland's ad campaign as Alice from 'Alice in Wonderland,' her Direct TV ad and her continuing L'Oreal cosmetics contract.

As the face of her own clothing lines run with her family, Dereon, and now Dereon Junior launched in 2007, Beyonce is everywhere and pulling in product-related cash from almost every commodity category. Her level of exposure, combined with the number, quality and diversity of her endorsement deals makes Beyonce BV's Top Black Celebrity Endorser of 2007.

Sexy Beyonce pic sparks panic

A poster featuring BEYONCE KNOWLES has been labelled obscene by shocked Las Vegas residents.

The bikini-clad Bootylicious star appears in giant form on a massive advertising hoarding for a local radio station and locals have found the racy pic too much to stomach.

They’re demanding it be torn down before it offends their sensibilities too greatly.

One resident said: “It’s obscene. I have my two little grandkids coming over here, and they don’t need to be seeing that.

“You can change the channel on the TV but you can’t change that.”

Pleasingly, city officials will not be swayed by the more prudish elements of the public and have assured the radio station the offending image can stay.

The station manger said: “The billboards were taken from publicity shots and this is the way those people perform.

“So, to show them in a jogging suit probably wouldn’t be the right thing.

“It complies with all the locational criteria that are set out in our code of conduct.”
